Yes, I made fried green tomatoes for dinner tonight. They were, well, okay. I guess I can understand why people like them. The tartness and sweetness of the tomato came through the fried cornmeal batter. But I don’t fry very well. Perhaps this is a dish that I need to taste “down south” where they really know how to fry.
I didn’t work out today. I walked a mile on the treadmill yesterday, and then stretched well, for 10 minutes. I think I will walk and stretch Wednesday and Thursday. I think the knot in my quad is gone, and my hamstrings feel better. Plus, I need to rest. THIS is Friday night!!
The race doesn’t start til 9pm. That is my bedtime! I’m going to be fighting hills and sleepiness from moment one! At least it will be fun. And I believe we won’t get the “remnants” of Fay.
It’s a 50 mile race, with a 13 hour cutoff. I’m a bit concerned about making the cutoffs, but I will give it my best effort. The plan was to lose weight this summer, but it hasn’t happened in time for Cheat, so if I get timed out, that’s my own damn fault.
My taper plan is to eat well and rest this week. I took Friday off from work, so I can drive down to Beverly (outside of Elkins) leisurely, eat a good lunch and maybe bring dinner with me, and then get 1-2 hour nap somewhere away from the other runners. I know once I show up at race HQ the whole sleep thing will be off.
This is a WV Mountain Trail Runner Race. Each Aid Station was given $$ and told to buy their stuff. And these are AS that know what they are doing, so I am expecting good and varied food at each AS. The only problem with running a club event is, spending too much time in the AS!!
