Top 10 Reasons Why To Vote

Top 10 Reasons Why To Vote Today:

  1. You are creating your future. Your decisions will elect the people who will form policy and laws. If you care about something, some issue, like the environment, or gay marriage, guess what? Some *elected* official is the one who will determine what happens to that issue.
  2. You don’t get to complain if you didn’t vote. Yes, this one is an oldie but goodie. If you didn’t cast a vote, don’t bitch about who was elected or what new law passed.
  3. Because it’s election day and now the TV commercials will just be Christmas ads and not 30 second dire political ads.
  4. So you can be one of the (hopefully) 40% that vote in midterm elections.
  5. Because we a democracy and need to keep it that way. Every four years we have a change in commander in chief, and it’s always been bloodless. That is not that common!
  6. Because you can. Woman suffragettes were jailed and went on hunger strikes in jail and were force fed, all trying to get that RIGHT to vote!
  7. To stay informed on the issues that DO affect you whether you think so or not
  8. Because Life is not American Idol.  More people voted for American Idol competitors than the president in the last election.
  9. You can get a cool sticker (in Ohio) that says “I voted”
  10. You can combine your workout with your patriotic duty. My polling place is about 2.5 miles away. I always love it when I can run to the polls and run home, accomplishing two activities at the same time!
