I Survived My Journal a Word a Day Challenge!

After achieving my first #30 Days of Lists, I thought I would continue on with the art journalling as a new hobby. My idea for October was to randomly select a “word” for the day, and then journal around that.

The only two days I made exception for was October 16-the hubs birthday, and the word was Ottobre-which is our last name, which means “October” in Italian, and October 31, which the word is of course, “Halloween”.

Overall, I enjoyed my thirty day challenge. I only got behind late in the month, where running/training took over more of the day than journalling.

How did I pick a word? I would reach behind me, on the bookshelf, select a book, and hit a word with a marker.

I did one pronoun, then chose only nouns. Adjectives, pronouns  were too hard.

The one fail? “Squalid”. Wasn’t up to journal that one.

I generally used dictionary.com to look up the definition of the word.  Then I would consult Pinterest. This led me down several paths with some words that I didn’t really know about before.

Like “The map is not the territory”.

Some words led immediately to association. Thing-I thought of Thing 1 and Thing 2, from Dr Seuss.  Then, of course “Thing” from the Adams Family and the vehicle!
