Hi there, my name is Kim, my trail name is Kimba. 🙂
I love to run on surfaces other than roads and usually any races/events I attend are ultra marathons-which are distances longer than 26.2 miles.
Why the long distances? One, it gives you more time to enjoy the trails. Two, running ultras makes you push yourself. It gives you more reason to step outside of your comfort zone that most of us cozily reside in.
I am an adventurous person who enjoys pushing herself. I don’t run too many organized races these days, I prefer more low key events. I don’t run for the T-shirt or the medal, although I do appreciate receiving them. It’s mainly about setting out to attain the goal that I set for myself. Sometimes I don’t meet that goal. Sometimes I am real disappointed in not reaching that goal, but if you never try, you will never know whether you can do it or not.
I am a firm believer in the you can do more than you think you can, and age and weight and gender should not hinder you. ” If you don’t mind, it don’t matter”.
I was/have been/ am back to being a Weight Watchers member. I lost 75 lbs on WW, regained about 50 lbs, and have now lost about 40 of those pounds.
I live in rural Ohio, in the foothills of Appalachia. My husband and I are ardent foodies, which makes it difficult as there is not a decent restaurant in 60 miles. Consequently, we cook most of our own meals, which is also better for us.
I am a mostly organic gardener and like to grow as many vegetables as I can. I also forage for some of our greens. Being a runner who likes to be in the woods helps with this aspect!
I am proud and happy to make it to age FIFTY and am currently celebrating that milestone with Project 50!
